PHOTOGRAPHY
I began my photography journey in 2023, where I explored the medium in many different realms. It encourages me to focus on capturing individual moments, celebrate detail, and focus in on singular stills. Below are collections of images taken during my time in a photography class, where I learned fundamental skills and began to find my voice as a photographer.
Portraits
This is a collection of portraits featuring some of my friends and a few of myself. The photos of my friends aim to highlight their personalities while doing something they love. The photos of me explore the concept of reclaiming what I once deemed insecure. Within the medium of portraiture, I found it enriching to capture candid moments opposed to posed figures. In these photos, I encourage the view to think about each individual and all the little details in the photo that contribute to their uniqueness.
Light as Subject
This collection challenged me to consider light as my primary focus, rather than it being a simple addition. It allowed me to play with color and encouraged the abstraction of objects. Light is a delicate balance in photography, and this collection encouraged me to look into the way that light can impact a piece. In some images, the light turned into shapes, created positive feelings, and played a roll in a visual story. In other images, the darkens pushed the essence of light, enhancing what might have been an ordinary image, to make it something truly eye catching.
Miscellaneous
This collection pertains photos from previous shoots that did not make it into a collection of their own. However, I would like to celebrate these misfits and allow them to shine in their own world together.
